Grappling Training
The ability to fight from the floor if need be is a major source of contention in the "traditional" martial arts world. Ever Since the Gracies destroyed everyone in the early UFC's with their brand of floor based Jiu Jitsu later to be known as Gracie Jiu Jitsu or Brazillian Jiu Jitsu the popularity of ground fighting has sky rocketed. Many traditional systems shy away from this question prefering to proport the idea they'll achieve a knock out before this could happen etc etc.
In self defence situations no one wants to hit the floor, its a dangerous place to be and even the keenest BJJ exponent if pushed will admit he doesn't want to roll around on concrete but whether its for self defence or for competition we believe this area should not be over looked.
Alex Wright holds a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt under Mauricio Gomez aswell as a phase II blue belt in Eddy Mills Shark Tank MMA Program. Wednesday nights at Cyclone are a Submission wrestling class largely based on BJJ however without a Gi. This class is currently run by Friend, Teacher and BJJ expert Dave Harewood.
